Thread: Replacing JayRod this season

    Replacing JayRod this season

It's a huge disappointment Jay is ruled out for 6 months. He's such a workhorse, and has had a great season - gutted for him about the WC. When it comes to replacing him for this season, I was reading an interesting article on the UglyInside (great website for those who haven't seen it!) which suggested possible replacements for him.

I'd actually like Mauricio to give Josh Sims a go. He's very young, and only just stepped up to u-21s, but representing England u-17, he looks like the real deal, and seems to play in a similar role to where JayRod does. With little to play for in this season, it seems like a great chance to blood another exceptional youngster. Alternatively, we could give Reed or Rowe a go there? Thoughts? - view external link

Definately worth blooding a new lad in there, as you say there is little to play for but consolidating 8th. Whoever it is, Poch should put his arm round him and say "JayRod is out and you now have a chance t

Whilst I'd like to see the nippers get a chance, I reckon Gaston will get the nod.

Can any of our loaned out players be recalled?

That said Gallagher has been getting games so it could be him.

I'd be happy to see Gallagher and a couple of the lads given a run out and gaining some much needed experience.

Other than that, we've still got Jonno I think, and Billy, Mayuka & Barnard who are out on loan, or Guly..

    Take your pick..

    Blood the yoof

It's only Cardiff on Saturday so even Guly would stand a chance of bagging a goal.

Josh is a very talented lad,and to watch him run through a defence is great to watch, but he is slightly on the small side, his shirt looks three sizes to big on him. And though it would be great to see another youngster break into the first time IMHO it may be a fraction to early for him, but next year expect him to be there or very close to first team.

With GastAn's agent spouting off about what a bad season it has been, for Gaston, I'd be inclined to continue using him from the bench and prepare for him leaving.

Sims looks a good prospect and may well be on the slight side, but he is stepping up to the U21 side, so the staff will know if he's worth a gamble.

With all the speculation surrounding Luke's future, I'd be interested in seeing Targett get a run out, with Luke ahead of him.
This will tell us if Targett is a suitable cover/replacement for Luke, and also show us if Luke has the capability to follow Bale into a more forward role. And increase his value even more!
