    pitch invasions

one thing that REALLY irritates me at GR is when opposing fans are just allowed to enter the pitch by stewards and police!! what are the rules again?
Walsall last season, vale this season and now wolves! why do stewards just sit there and let it happen?
I remember when against coventry at home in the JPT some fans were very forcibly tackled or pushed when trying to get onto the pitch, in the GRE at least..
Why is it one rule for one group of fans and another rule for another?

The stewards were c**ts at the GRE v Cov,far too robust.
Really the 'job' of policing pitch invasions at GR rests with the home supporters, who should pile onto our hallowed green baize and charge toward any visitors who may have encroached, thus forcing them back into their stand(s).

It didn't bother me and was jealous that it was them and not us. Many Crewe fans stopped behind to enjoy their moment. Why not as nothing else was going on on the pitch the previous 90 mins.

Good luck to them. They all stood most of the game as well which is against the rules. So what?

    Change the rules...

I don't care if they had just achieved promotion, the pitch invasion was a disgrace. Fans are warned not to go onto the pitch for reasons of safety. Someone could easily have been injured.

I take your point, but in this case I think there would have been more chance of injuries if our 'highly professional' (?) stewards had tried to stop them.
The euphoria of getting straight back into the Championship for a club with the fan base of Wolves, must have been pretty awesome. Some people can restrain themselves, but young fans just grab their moment - egged on by their peers.

Personally? Don't like invasions and never have, but that's just me and a few others I fear.

    re: pitch invasions

It is tough blaming the stewards for yesterday's pitch invasion given the number that the club employed on those sides of the ground. The number of police for a match that was known to be a likely League clincher for Wolves a week or two ago was also a bit of a joke, although they were filming the goings-on just in case anything really serious happened.

If we are going to have a proper 'Keep off the Pitch' policy then the club need to ensure there are sufficient police and stewards to enforce it. To be fair the Wolves fans were just happy, and the pitch isn't exactly going to be ruined by them running on it as it's already in a right old state.

I would, however, add two things. Firstly, the club should not try and stop our own fans from invading the pitch after the PNE game in the unlikely event of us escaping relegation.

Secondly, the referee should have taken note of the impending pitch invasion, which was obvious for all to see, and blow the final whistle when play was close t

Oh come on, lets stop blaming the ref for our poor results. I thought he was pretty fair by not booking players from both sides and tried to keep the game flowing. He annoyed me as all refs do by the amount of time with free kicks outside the pen area and taking 10 steps and then waiting again before he blows the whistle. How could he see the goalie come outside the area? How could he see the sending off elbow? It was the linesman's responsibility to flag the first one and presumably he identified Chucks as the culprit. I don't see he had any other choice once that was pointed out.

Feel free to disagree but that was my take on him...I have seen some really bad ones but imo he was not one of them.

Its a good point about pitch invasions if everyone runs onto the pitch at the same time and a chance that someone or a child will fall down and be trampled by others without knowing but it can be managed by asking fans not to run on the pitch IF they were going to...I know its against the
