Thread: Should Pompey be ashamed?

    Should Pompey be ashamed?

I know it's an old topic but I'm continually bemused by some of the comments on SM (their current topic 'just say sorry') that we should not crow about our FA cup finals. Somehow we should be ashamed for fielding players we couldn't afford. Oh really? How many of the 92 clubs field players solely from gate receipts? SFC is wholely dependant on foreign money. What hypocrisy. To equate the subsequent events to charity theft is beyond obscene. Probably the SM lunatic fringe only.I'm completely proud of what Pompey achieved and disgusted with the shysters.
Much richer clubs failed to do what we did. Here's to promotion next season. PUP

It's the way of the world unfortunatley. Anyone that thinks pompey fans are responsible for arms dealers and fake sheiks probably think all yanks are responsible for bush...mooslims for fanatics...irish for bombs etc etc.

You shouldn't even be asking the question!!We as fans follow and players play.If we cheated in any way why haven't the appropriate authorities taken action..
In the eyes of all laws we have done nothing wrong and we are worthy winners.
When i see the kunts who took us to the brink of extintion in court for THEIR crimes i might see a different story.

How can you be ashamed if you're so sure you've done nothing wrong?

    No shame whatsoever !

Or Dave Bassett for liquorice allsorts.

What has PFC done differently from 96 other clubs that have played in the top four leagues since we first went into administration? Nothing.

Our problem was not selling players on for a maximum fee, rather a minimum fee, and paying wages that weren't being matched elsewhere by similar clubs.

OK our top attendances were capped at 20,700 - which was nowhere near enough capacity to fund things when matters got dire and relegation loomed. But even then we got to the Cup Final!

But we rode the tiger and ended up with a high season end place - was it 9th? - and briefly topped the Premiership, four Wembley appearances, two semi final wins, and one each of a Cup Win and Cup Runners up spot, not to mention winning the Asia Cup against Liverpool in the final.

I wonder what Stains' high point will be when they eventually percolate down the Premiership in the next few years and look back to their purple patch?

Pompey should NEVER be ashamed, Scumhampton should be ashamed of all the money they spend and have just the ONE TROPHY TO SHOW FOR IT. excepting of course for their magnificent Johnsons Paint Pot.
