the start of a war on a football strip ???? Apparently the crest on the new Hearts strip is to commemorate the start of WW1 a war in which millions died . Celebrate the end of wars but surely not the start of one ?

isnt it a case of recalling the fallen ones , the ones who paid the ultimate price
I'll put this down to ignorance.Originally Posted by JoyDivision
Of course I know the history of Hearts and the men that fell in that war but celebrating the start of wars is baffling . Celebrating the end of a war as a mark of respect would be a far more fitting tribute to your comrades in my opinion but celebrating the end of a war would be five years from now , a fact I think the commercial department at Hearts can't wait for .Originally Posted by gersforme

They can do this kind of thing whenever they choose IMO , they are not celebrating wars, just paying tribute to their history and obviously they are in financial troubles now .
I recently found out that I had a relative who served in MacRae's Battalion. He survived the war.
Joking apart, that's why I'm buying the Hearts and Raith Rovers tops..
If one of Walter Tull's clubs brought one out in honour of his service I'd probably but it too..
