Thought I was on the wrong site when I came across this interesting article as its usually guess the crowd on here.

The simple answer is yes.We have introduced diets, better training methods and an analyst so this would be the next logical step.

Not sure of the evidence re sports psychologists improving performance but certainly they are generally accepted as being useful.

Of course Evans uses sports psychology without being a psychologist but I doubt that his methods are evidenced based!

So yes for the reasons you have outlined..it would be worthwhile Im sure.

Very good article Exeter. Well done.

Steve Peters came to the public attention working with GB Track Cycling and Sky Pro Cycling. He is based in Sheffield. He wrote the book The Chimp Paradox. Also worked with Ronnie O'Sullivan btw.

Sports psychology is like training, you won't benefit particularly if you dip in for a few weeks. It is more about a lifestyle change. So I doubt it will give us anything for the playoffs.

Yeah, I was thinking more long term, especially next season, whichever Division we may be in has it's pit falls.

    Exeter
A very valid point, we have a number of players who will have never been in this position and when cool heads are called for we need them to react in the correct way. That also goes for our manager, I'm not sure if he has been through the play offs, if not he needs to find a way to control himself and Chanel his aggression in the correct way and not revert to his stampeding and yelling on the side lines as he did when he first arrived. I'm sure when the pressure is on people revert back to type, and despite him appearing calmer on the outside im sure he still has that furnace going inside.

I remember being hypnotised by Corner's red shoes. Can't remember much after that.

Do you think someone at the club will have thought about this?

It's a very good idea, like already mentioned some players won't have experienced this and would benefit from it, also when we go up into the Championship we might be involved in some more live TV as well .
