    8th!!

Joking aside, on this subject, I was just musing over the fact that we could actually attain the same position as you 'horrible lot. Of course, there is a world of difference between the lofty heights of the PL and L2 but it is still the same achievement in the bounds of our respective leagues.

It has to be admitted (though I would never do so in public) that 8th, amongst the company that your team currently keep, is very commendable. For us, 8th would be nothing short of miraculous given the fact that many of you were looking forward to yet another relegation in the recent life of PFC.

At the start of the season, the bookies had us tipped to be promotion candidates, so it could be construed as a massive failure but I think you will find that, for us, such a final league position would be construed by many Pompey Fans as a positive final position, given the circumstances.

Given your teams early season form, would you rate your satisfaction with 8th as high, medium or low?

I am not enjoying Saints being in the Prem really, as I don't like the league. Looking at the top 5 today, the only real surprise is that Man Ure are not there, otherwise, it's the league for the usual suspects, with everyone else surviving (or bed-blocking as my favourite FF poster Matt would say ), with moments of excitement, the highs and lows of press speculation and stupid money being thrown about. So - 8th? Good result I suppose, but for most teams in the Prem it's about not being in the relegation scrap, not going bust, and the occasional surprise win.

Europe would be nice, as it adds a whole new dimension to the games, but is outside of the grasp of most teams (us included this season). Overall, I enjoyed the excitement of the lower leagues more.

Start of the season I thought that progress on last year would be never looking over our shoulder at relegation this season, continued development of our squad and further progress from the academy.
We got. 8th, 4 players in the England team and a host of next generation. Way better than I expected.

Start of the season I thought you might just make play off's but obviously things were more difficult than that. You got close - but only with a late change of manager (and maybe some humble pie?)

Good points echoed by a lot of fans... But, being an expat, I much preferred us in the prem as I never missed a game. Were you able to watch scum in Brazil weekly i

I think Saints have done very well this season to finish top half. If they can retain their players could repeat a top half position next season. I would not be surprised if the manager moved on.
Only a late surge has allowed Pompey to even look respectable. It's been a truly dreadful season and until we can clear our football debts, and thus buy players, I don't expect much better next season. The only consolation is that my club still exists and clings on to League status.
I do believe that eventually (probably not in my lifetime) both clubs will find themselves back in the Championship, but I expect Pompey to get there first.

To be honest, I only get to see the games on bad streaming - I am out of Sao Paulo at weekends in the countryside with a 3mb internet connection, so even the streaming isnt worth watching most of the time! As for TV - the only Saints game I saw in Brazil on TV was when we were in the 3rd division, and I saw it on a TV in a hospital waiting room until some muppet changed the channel to the cartoons...

And I resisted in comparing cartoons in a brazilian hospital being infinitely more fun than watching you.

For those that attend games, or season ticket holders like me, the only league to be in is the PL.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed our dalliance in the lower leagues, but nothing beats watching your team pit their wits against England's elite on a weekly basis. It's even better if your chosen team can hold their own against the big boys.

I'm sure some fans would dine out on spunking a point at Bury away? Not for me I'm afraid - I'd take a win against Everton at home anytime.
