So to start a bit of World Cup build up...
Who is the Englands all time top scorer attributed to on 47 goals between 2nd Gary Lineker on 48 and 4th Jimmy Greaves on 44?
No cheating![]()
Owen?
I know you said no cheating, but technically the wording of the question is wrong
To ask who is England's third top scorer, the answer would be Michael Owen, but he's only got 40 goals.
We have scored 47 goals through opposition defenders scoring own goals, so really the question should be "What is the third highest source of goals for England?"
Better luck next time![]()

Having seen the answer I now have to try to work out the question from how it has been asked:Originally Posted by Rattea
"Who is the Englands all time top scorer" - not third as proposed in the header, so the answer is Charlton R I believe
"attributed to on 47 goals" - by which I assume you mean attributed with, not to? If so then you infer that the top scorer must have 47 goals which is not correct. he has 49 I think.
"between Lineker and Greaves" - confuses further since "Englands all time top scorer" cannot be between the second and fourth highest scorer"
I assume the question must therefore ask us to identify England's third highest scorer - and not top scorer.
Such own goals would have been scored by a multiplicity of scorers (quite probably 47 unless anyone (most
