with the ginormous gap between premier league and championship money wise, would that really be a fair fight though?

Why is there not a relegation play-off in any league in English football?
They deem it fair enough that three teams go up, yet a team in sixth can become the third side. If a team finishes third from bottom they go down, but the team three places above in 19th are completely safe.
Has anybody thought the fairest way play-off wise would be to either do three straight up & three straight down or have play-offs to decide both things.
If they want to keep things competitive and interesting the battle to stay out of the bottom six would certainly be more entertaining that staying out of the bottom three. Bottom two automatically down, others play to stay in the league.

Interesting idea but IF we do go up, you know that we'd be bottom 3 or play offs to go down. It makes it harder than just getting 4th bottom to stay up. having said that, ill be happy with beating 11 points so sod it, i'm in.
Not saying it should happen. And maybe not in the Premier League but more about this league. If you have to have a play-off to go up providing you finish out of the top 2, then should there not be a play-off to go down if you're out of the bottom 2?
Be a bit harsh to go to wembley in order to lose and be relegated!
Relegation play off final! Love it

Don't they have a relegation play off in Scotland?
