Go to a game at FP and get the Pompey bug, i fell in love with the fans first and then the club.
Iv'e had yanks in my gaff who came just because they heard i was a Pompey fan and wanted to shake my hand. Scummers may cry but they just don't get the positives of a famous history.
    Good read Snout.

Funny, when I lived in South London I used to spend half my life at Stamford Bridge due to all my Chelsea mates. However I never built up a love affair with Chelsea, quite the opposite I came to detest them!

Well, that was a good write up by the Sports Editor of the Pompey Uni weekly news publication.

And as a previous incumbent in that very role for 18 months during my salad days (1966-69) with PACE the Galleon's predecessor, it would be churlish of me not to congratulate the author on his new found Damascus Road experience as well as the roundedness of his style and compass.

Doubly so, as during my stint as PACE's Sports Editor I wrote a piece called The Entry about a ginnel off Lloyd Street South not more than a stone's throw from Maine Road stadium, in memory of my time @ MU Pharmacy faculty (1965 - 66) when I lived in Stretford and Fallowfield village.

It were nowt to do wi' footie or the fans, but about the interrelationship of the people who lived there and their local community, both of whom were half scared, half emboldened, in those far off Wilsonian Labour days.

Ahhhhh! Bisto! I feel a poem about blue remembered hills coming on.
