    Lallana wants to leave

    STL.

No source quoted, but in all fairness, and despite how we might feel about this - can we begrudge someone who has been with us for 15 years - loan to Bmuff aside? He didnt jump ship when he perhaps could have, but saw us through back into the Prem, and now wants to try another club.

I dont want to see him go, but also feel he has done his duty for Saints and should be allowed to move on with the same feeling of goodwill as SRL has received. - view external link

Not sure we can begrudge him leaving, but we can certainly begrudge him the timing.
Any player agitating for moves, pressuring the board etc, whilst we have no manager in place, are just being disloyal, selfish bar stewards

Loyalty is a two way street. Yes he stuck with us, when we were in League 1, but then he wasn't the finished article then and as far as I can remember, the best offer he had was from Fulham. Where are they now?
We stuck with him, and probably paid for his heart problem to be rectified, when he was 18/19, so I think he has about paid that off.

As I say, above, for me it is all about the timing of his wanting to move. That he is trying to rush an inexperienced board into caving in, and give him a transfer on his terms, when he wants it, irrespective of our inner problems, just makes him appear to be no better than a mercenary, pushing for a bigger payday.
Shows disrespect to the club and supporters.

Would just like to add, if he still wants to move, when the new man has been installed, then I hope we leave it until the last minute, of the last day of the transfer window.
After the manager has made him train with the academy, to remind him of his roots.

Are we going to use this 'Cannot begrudge him' bull sheet every time one of our players wants to move on? We can begrudge him and we should if he's being underhand, he should only go for our valuation. A year ago he signed a contract and said he'd love to end his career at Saints, what's changed? ENGLAND that's what. I'm starting to believe that Clattenberg was right about him. I think we'd be fine without him if he was to leave anyway, I've always said on here, his finishing isn't good enough to be an OUTSTANDING player so 25million would be a steal.

Its a job - a well paid job, nothing more. When you have a contract put in front of you, you say Yes of course I want to carry on working here - what is unsaid is ...until I want to work somewhere else at which point you leave.

The fault of the contract is that you dont want to keep an employee who doesnt want to work for you, having made it clear they want to work elsewhere. Now, if I was working somewhere that I loved, and had signed a contract based on the fact I loved working there, and then my boss leaves, and the company is being run by a complete cnut, I would probably want to leave too. A football player is mostly only as good as his last game, so good luck to Adam. At 27, hes probably got 5 years left of quality football, so no, I dont begrudge him wanting to play out his career at the highest possible level, and the ways Saints are looking right now, that is not the boards intentions for the coming 12 months.

STL and have a look at post #1.

Yes it's sp@zweb but this poster Guan seems to be a bit ITK. Makes a lot of sense.

So Ads may well be off, but at least it's not all doom and gloom after all. - view external link

For the sake of all non-top four clubs in all divisions, it is imperative Southampton's board shows some backbone and compels Lallana back for pre-season training, telling him he signed a 5 year contract last season. The club should let him submit a formal transfer request and then turn it down. Removing the captaincy and making him train alone or with the reserves should also be considered.

The club should make an example of Lallana as a warning to anyone else. Capitulate now and let him have his move and others can feel emboldened. He is playing in the top-flight and is an England player who is paid handsomely, that should be enough.

It's time the fat cat clubs were thwarted and that includes tomorrow when Catlin (Pompey Chief Executive) should comprehensively rubbish Dyke's joke Premiership B plans at the FL meeting.

That might be the morally 'right' thing to do, but it won't put ?25m in the pot. However, more importantly f
