"West Ham United will attempt to bring Newcastle Jets striker Emile Heskey back to the Premier League, according to sources at Upton Park.

The former Liverpool and Leicester City player, 36, is seen as back up target man Andy Carroll should the injury prone striker spend time on the sidelines next season.

A source at West Ham said Heskey would most likely be offered a one-year deal if he wanted to return to England.


"Emile can still do a job, holding the ball up," he said. "If Andy was to get injured, it would give us another option. Emile can play the new West Ham way."

Former England striker Heskey has been in Australia since 2012, when he joined the Jets from Aston Villa."
