    D-Day plus 70 years

It all started 70 years ago tonight with the gliders on to Pegasus bridge and the Merville Battery and the US 101st Airborne around Mere St.Eglise, Carentan etc. Then the main event 70 years ago tomorrow.

My Wife's Papa was D-Day plus 9 with the 51st HD. He'd already done El Alamein and Sicily before that. Ended up in Cuxhaven, but came back thankfully.

Tough, brave ******s one and all. Dropping in on a silk 'chute, driving the landing craft in, piloting the various planes and boats or charging up the beaches and fighting through the hedgerows! Respect!

Scots, English, Irish, Welsh, Canadian, American, French and others too. Have a thought for those that didn't come back tomorrow folks

Not much moves me (I'm Aquarius ) but looking at the pics of the ceremonies from today certainly makes me feel eternally grateful to all those who fought for the Allies in WWII. RESPECT!
