    Slow on the uptake?

Are the management being a bit too cautious,in bringing in new players,or is it once bitten twice shy.
Shrewsbury, not only have a new manager, but have signed seven(7) new players, our Mark amongst them.
If were not careful we could end up with the players no one else wants.
As always your comments are welcome.

No money, defo none to waste this time around. It'll be 'good' signings and loans - and if you read the managers words in the media today he seems to have them identified.

Report in today's Sentinel states that Steve Davis is after another "Chucks" player on loan, together with the real Aneke. I wonder if Steve realises that Aneke is not good enough for the Championship and feels he is better equipped to play in L1 with us? I hope that is the case and we also get another talented lad alongside him.

    No money?

Ermm, who was it we transferred for a few millions over the last couple of years and before then?

If we don't have any money, then pity the rest of L1 and L2 clubs then who seem to have no trouble signing players.

I just get feed up with reading we don't have any money and have to rely on the 'kids when nobody else is doing it.

Its almost as someone is secretly hiding all that transfer money away somewhere in the accounts. Another reason is the money is going on management and coaches like Dario seemingly still on his 100 grand a year and semi or almost retired now.

Of course the recent half dozen kids who have signed Pro Contracts have to be paid for but is that to ensure we get a better standard of player to be able to play in L1 or they really do

Must we go through all this again? Sigh. Yawn.

There are clubs who have moneyed backers, and clubs who don't.

Worse in our case is that not only don't we have a moneyed backer, but we have a (paper) millionaire who seems to be sucking the money we've generated out of the club.

So the Shrews have an angel, therefore though it was tough to be relegated they'll storm back next season. With us, it would have been squeaky bum time if relegation had happened.

We went after Danny Hylton last year, and he could have been useful, but Rotherham were able to sign so many forwards, just to be on the safe side, that we couldn't get him. Was he bothered about a situation when maybe he'd rarely play? Not if he'd been offered so much more by the Millers. And then they had such a glut that most were loaned out, including the remarkably talented Ainsworth to Motherwell.

Who knows, maybe we even disgusted Sam Winnall with our offer, which is why he went to Scunny.

So why bleat about this state of a

It goes straight into the academy, I presume. We've had to improve the facility and double the coaching staff thanks to EPPP in the past 3 years, or so. I think Dario still gets a cut on player transfers, as well.

When you think about it, we haven't made all that much in those past two years of transfers. Powell, Westwood, and Murphy got us probably around A£5 Million upfront (with additional payments, based on performance). The academy costs, probably around A£1 million a year. To get th

Yes, Powell pretty much got us promoted on his own - but that didn't benefit team or club!?

Shrews are signing freebies - because the transfer window opens Monday. We have just tied down younger players like Garrett to a longer deal and got some quality youngsters on 3 year deals (one of whom had Premier League clubs sniffing around). Keep the faith.

The lack of money sure is a real frustration, i understand we have to be financially cautious and the academy comes first. But from the articles i've been reading on the official site, there's a pattern emerging. Davis says its going to be difficult and we don't have much money but Bowler's saying it's critical to stay in the league?

Surely the solution is to invest in minimum, 2 quality first-team players. Defender and a play-maker.

I know its not cheap running the academy but even an extra 100k or so could get us a decent, proven league 2 player? (Worked with Ellis)
