    The evening post

This letter has caused quite a stirring among the County fans and I do agree with them to an extent. What's it hurting? One man doesn't like it? WOW, stop the press.

HERO. One who in the presence of danger or adversity, and against odds, faces it all with courage and selfless dedication.

In my opinion, it is rapidly becoming a very devalued word.

We apply it to celebs, sportsmen and others without even thinking.

Its use as a complete cover-all for anyone in the fighting forces again devalues any genuine act of heroism by members of such organisations.

Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler may be models of determination and dedication, but never heroes.

While it would be unfair to denigrate them in any way, to put what appears to be an ugly representation of them on the public highway in no way excites my imagination or serves as a role model.

    ANTHONY WILKINSON

    Clifton Road

    Ruddington

I will add though Notts fans. Was it really necessary to slag off Mr Clough's statue as a monstrosit

So he wrote all that because of the word being used?

Ok if he doesn`t like hero then substitute legend instead.

Both are certainly that in Notts County's history.
