    Red Kites - FAO Kitey/Corky

I've mentioned before about the red kites we get round here, well yesterday I saw a couple of crows going for a red kite in the air. I don't know what if anything had happened beforehand but there was a right old commotion overhead and I saw the two of them attacking the kite big time. The thing is it went on for a good couple of minutes with the kite trying to get away but they just went on going for it. Eventually after giving it a good kicking they both peeled away and bu99ered off and the kite did just glide off but it looked nasty, must have been some damage done.
I can't remember if both of you are birdie people, is this normal crow/kite behaviour?

Kitey's yer man fer birds. Technically however, interested to know how crows can give anyone a good kicking with those little clawed feet and spindly legs.

Could be the Kite Massive are at war with the Crow Crips in the Hertfordshire 'hood.

Interesting SD... I have regularly seen crows , usually in pairs "buzzing" red kites around the golf course where I play... seems common behaviour.. I guess the kites don't have the sort of defence/attack beaks that raptors do as they are scavengers (maybe the crows see them as competition for the same food?)
Caught a magpie in the kitchen yesterday eating out of the cat's bowl... that was a bit of a shock.. it flew off when it saw me...not so lucky was the magpie that the cat brought in through the cat flap last month! What a racket it made.. I caught it and released it ,but it must have been injured as it got attacked by 3 or 4 other magpies .. nasty sods.

Kites can be a bit offish but are generally all right. Crows are always gobbing off but are all piss and wind. Magpies are complete and utter *******s especially when they've been drinking.

red kites and buzzards and even eagles get hassled and mobbed by lesser birds as they attempt to stop the birds of prey stealing their young.i see hordes of red kites over the m40 around the high wycombe area

    Piffle and trapclap!

It's a KETTLE of kites...as anyone who knows Hertfordshire is aware.

It's a reference to the sounds from their nests when making a brew.
