World Cup Match Thread Part 3

Italy v Costa Rica first up, faint hopes left for England rest on a Italy victory.

If Italy can't beat Costa Rica, it would be naive to think that we can do so by the several goals likely to be necessary.

Costa Rica doing well at this early stage. I suspect that they will be difficult opponents on Tuesday.

Costa Rica population, 4 million plus.

    Uruguay population, 3.4 million.

    England population, 53 million.

    Something is seriously wrong somewhere!

Balotelli needs to grow a pair, screams in agony, rolls about like he's seriously injured and then back on his, he then has the chance to put Italy in front. Poor decision making on his part.

If that had been against England, Balotelli would have buried it!

Another chance for Balotelli, but fires straight at the keeper, third time lucky with his next effort.

Absolute disgrace! That was a sure fire penalty to Costa Rica!

Campbell through on goal and Chiellini pushes him over. Penalty in my eyes. 1-0 Costa Rica, Fulham's Brian Ruiz header, definately over the line.

Justice done - Italy 0 Costa Rica 1. Not what we want, but at least justice was seen to be done!

How many times have Italy been ruled offside? created nothing in the second half at all. Costa Rica have played with idea of going forward and at least trying to increase their lead. Classed as the outsiders in the group before the world cup, but put the two sides they have faced to shame.
