Arsenal have added to their crop of wonderkids by signing England youth international Ben Sheaf from West Ham.
The 16-year-old, who was rated as a big star for the future at Upton Park, had moved to the Emirates Stadium after turning down a new contract with the Hammers.
West Ham will no doubt be disappointed with the news, as Sheaf is regarded as one of the best young midfielders in the country.
He made his debut for England’s Under-16 team last season and is being tipped to feature more for the Three Lions in the future.
Can't say I blame him, he was never going to get a game under Allardyce anyway which is probably why he and his parents decided career progression would be better elsewhere. - view external link

If you had a conversation about Arsenal Academy with Tony Carr he will tell you that it is the best run academy in the country, oh and they pay more.
Perhaps Tony Carr leaving had something to do with it?
Or it's a top four club
He may never get another chance
They pay more
He'll be training alongside superstars
All sorts of reasons before you even get to the fact that Allardyce is a c unt who doesn't like playing youngsters.
For the life of me, I'll never understand why we just have Ruddock away last year![]()
I never called Allardyce a c.unt![]()
I might have thought it though![]()
I think it's more than that tbh Bonzo. Four seasons ago I wrote to Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham asking if it would be possible to arrange a visit to their training centres for the Under 16 kids I coach. I got a "yes" from Arsenal, a "sorry but not possible" from Spurs. From West Ham? Not even the courtesy of a reply.Originally Posted by bonzosbest74

Might only be a small, insignificant thing but I think it says something about the ethos of a club when it is prepared to go a little bit further.
allardyce doesn't risk youth very much as he is a self preservationist
as crazy as it sounds, he will have more chance of being played at a top four club
money and club status could obviously be a fact or harry, no doubt but the current manager ((untishness aside in cup games, that he doesn't bother trying to win anyway) bloods youth less than previous managers

this replicates us a bit under redknapp/carr and to a lesser degree curbishley/carr
sadly, in 2014 at our club, it's all about staying in the prem and not bothering about youth of style of play
