Tour de France away day review

    Pt1

    (Sorry nee photos)

Left Egremont (area) at 7am Saturday morning and picked up my mate from Workington. We then followed the A66 to Scotch Corner and then onto the A1(M) South to York. Traffic was light, the only gripe with the journey down was that part of the A1 was under a 50 miles per hour speed limit.

Arrived in York at approximately 10.20am. We found the campsite with ease. It actually turned out to be a field the council were allowing to be used as a campsite. There were several portaloos (filthy) and a shower block which was surprisingly clean.

We erected the tent and then went into York City centre and had a look around the minster before purchasing some lunch (chilli chicken sandwich and a can of lemonade for a very reasonable Ai2.30).

The centre off of York isert as good as they'd* of youse believe, certainly the cathedral isert as impressive as may others I of been to (Lincoln's better, 'cos off of the imp and the general situation off of the place). In fact I were geet underwhelmed with York last time I were there, about three (3) months ago.
