Thread: Our squads' current value

    Our squads' current value

With the stupidly high prices players are going for at the moment, what do you think our players are worth?
    just my opinions...
    GK : Grant 500k

    Defence: Forsyth 600k , Buxton 900k , Keogh 1 M , Christie 500k

Midfield: Hughes 10 M (at least considering other players atm), Bryson 3-4M, Hendrick 2M, Thorne 5M

    Attack: Russell 1.5-2M, Martin 2+ M, Ward 500k, Dawks 500k

    Others: Sammon 500k, Bennett 500k, Freeman 300k

That puts our team's worth at around 30M

What would Kevin Hector, Charlie George, Roy McFarland and Colin Todd be worth if in their prime today?

You would get none of them for less than 25 million, based upon some recent transfers

    re: Our squads' current value

Contracts play a huge part, as does form and timing, so I don't think it's that accurate to value players. I'll have a go with some key players though. These prices will be totals, so including add-ons etc.

Buxton 1.5 Million- Think about it. He was imperious last season, better than Keogh no? Therefore, with form, and the fact he's just starting a 4 year deal, I reckon he's worth over a million. I doubt we could replace Bucko for less if he plays as he did last season.

Thorne 4.5 Million- By all accounts, we're paying 3 million or above with add-ons, or at least i2.75 million. He was relatively surplus at WBA, yet for us, he's the heart of our midfield, and a real feature of our play. We value him as a player much more than WBA did, so surely we'd command more money for him?

Martin 5 Million- McCormack for 11 mil, Ulloa for 7 mil etc. How can Martin be worth 2.5 mil? Who on earth could we replace him with for that? Any 20+ goal a season striker is worth 3-4 mi

    re: Our squads' current value

As with all things a player is "worth" what another team is prepared to pay so putting a value on a player is very difficult.

Its probably easier to work out the cost of replacing a player based on todays market.

That makes sense. You were in the top flight then and capable of staying there.
