    Keogh

Don't want this to become a witch hunt but watched about an hour of the Zenit game and the whole match at Meadow lane and I have to say that Keogh has just lost any confidence. I think he had a decent season last season apart from that one slip at Wembley but I do worry that he is struggling to get over that mistake - his passing is poor and has developed a bewildering ability to get himself into trouble in possession. I really hope he manages to play himself into form but I am very concerned about his general demeanour around the pitch.

    Over-reacting?

No I don't think you are. it's the elephant in the room! We want him to do well but he has always made me nervous but tends to get away with it until recently. Zenith are a good side but this is a good result to focus macs mind on the defence I am sure!

I thought against Notts County he showed signs of a man low in confidence, but someone who will still try the wreckless things.

Against Zenit, he didn't look good in the last 10 mins i saw.

    re: Keogh

Keogh has always had the odd dropped ******* in his locker - Sheff Weds away when his free kick ended with Jake's awesome drag back and his back pass against Donny for example - but it seems to be quite regular at the moment. He is a heart on sleeve sort of player and will throw himself at everything - but so is Buxton. Yet if Bucko did some of these things - especially before last season I reckon the knives would be out.

Tell me something new I said last season way before the play off final he wasn,t good enough. He trys hard but definitely the weak link. Ano there worrying thing is Christie says he has learnt a lot from him.

There is nothing wrong with learning from someone else's mistakes!

From my point of view, Keogh is a good Championship CB but, you're never going to be winning a league with him in the side. For the majority of the game he will be solid at the back, but then he'll make a mistake or two. The problem is.. he doesn't make meaningless mistakes like over-hitting a pass that goes out for a throw. He'll make mistakes that lead directly to a goal scoring opportunity. Two recurring mistakes of Keoghs are..

    1) Trying to nip in front of the striker when ball is fed into strikers feet, only to get rolled by the striker. However, he did this less often as the season wore on. Coached out of him I hope.

    2) Getting dispossess

    re: Keogh

I sometimes think he plays a bit like a poor man's Rio Ferdinand. He was prone to the odd concentration lapse and I think Keogh is the same. Generally in games where Derby are under pressure he defends like a man possessed - the problems tend to occur when Derby are on top, with the Play Off Final being a good example of this. When he plays on instinct he looks good, it's when he has time to think and tries to be clever that the problems appear.

Yes completely...its pre season ffs...getting his fitness is priority not his leadership in 2 meaningless games

    re: Keogh

I think one of the players had stated there is a bit of a focus in preseason of "playing tired" in order to try and get them used to the end of games where bad decisions tend to come. (But that may be rubbish)

Keogh I don't think is particularly "accident prone" if you will but its strange to say I think he is the least comfortable with ball at feet. The way we play can sometimes expose this, just as every international side knows to press England high up the field and someone drops a ******* then sides can often put pressure on Keogh.

I must admit I thought the Notts goal he was yanked out of the way by a massive pull on the shirt but I only saw the clips so...

    Even Mark Wright made mistakes!
