Step in the right direction imo. Crouch and the like always seems like money for old rope.
£8m is pie in the sky for a player into the last year of his contract though.

Let's look at this rationally.

Since joining Sunderland he's played about 40 or 50 games and has a goalscoring record that makes Andy Carroll seem prolific.

Offer them a few quid "leasing" him on a loan deal and re assess in 12 months.
