    Today's game

Just back. Very decent game I thought, both teams went @ it hammer & tong all game. Lovely goal by Taylor who had a superb 1st half, winning everything in the air & bringing others into play. Webster, well I said 10mins before he saw red he's going to be sent off. Seem to lose his head & for a player who is no slouch seems to be beaten far too easily by pacey players. Not sure what his best position is but @ FB he seems to be very vulnerable. Wallace had a bit of a mare IMO but never stopped battling. I thought the midfield 3, Hollands Dunne & Antanga were outstanding, Dunne is so commited & the other two support him so well. To play for 50+ mins with 10men against a decent physical direct Cambridge team spoke volumes & that crazy own goal was hilarious. Whole team gave everything & the crowd sung them home.
Great stuff. My MoM was Jones, excellent performance.
Sadly before the game some Cambridge fans arrived @ The Rutland with a Police escort, bit strange we thought. No the OB had

Cheers for the insight PG. I listened to what i could on the radio and all the pundits said the same as you, in that webster was gonna go.Awford needs to address this kind of scenario earlier imho. That said it sounded like we were very good prior to the goal.Storey seems like an eyecatching acquisition.Someone who has a go and can actually cross a ball. Atangana goes from strength to strength.

Well done to all and lets really push on from here and make our intentions known early doors.

What's the betting Webster has been told to man up this season and he over-compensated. He has always struck me he wouldn't say boo to a goose so was shocked when I heard the news. Typical of us to make it difficult for ourselves. Glad it was a good game with the right result.

    Onwards to glory.

PS Quite often go back to the car via Goldsmiths and always thought it was an accident waiting to happen when they let the opposing fans out at full-time. Seen quite a few confrontations down there over the years.

We ought to have been a goal down after 10 minutes but after that I felt we were in charge and it was no surprise to me that we took the lead. The sending off changed it, Awfs was forced to take the impressive Atangana off, to bring Devera on in Webster's place. Our 2nd goal was comical but much needed. However with more than 20 minutes left we conceded almost straight after. That was not in my script. I like Storey and the Keeper too after I groaned at his boob against Bournemouth. What do you reckon of him after one league game Scully ? Difficult to assess the team's chances having played so long with 10 men, but I haven't changed my mind that we can finish in the top 3. However I agree with what Gun posted a few weeks ago, where are the goals going to come from ? Whatever happens we really ought to have a much better season than last year. I just hope Corky doesn't put the mockers on when he brings his charabanc down at the end of the month

Away fans have been allowed to leave at FT for some time. Now we've started to win this policy should be reviewed. Some Posh fans were looking for some action on Tuesday but an alert police officer stepped in straight away. Understand ground capacity unchanged from last season. PCC assessing crowd movements after the game yesterday.

Back to the game. Sorry to say I don't think Webster has got what it takes to make it.

Awford made right calls on substitutions although I would have brought on Westcarr rather than Bird who is clearly out of his depth.

Suspect Chorley will be back on Tuesday in place of Whatmough together with Wynter in a 3-5-2 formation. Wallace might struggle to retain his place too.

At the mo there are five of us coming down from the 'hood (collecting one in Winchester) to savour the special atmosphere. Two Pompey, one Scouser, one Spud and one Chelski. It's a Fanfest - no Jonahs in that possee.

    re: Today's game

We made hard work of it yesterday and I thought that Andy Awford had a mixed day, but on the whole has more to be congratulated about than condemned.

I liked the team selection, and despite Cambridge having a one on one in the first half, from a goalkeepers kick, flick on, and someone running on to it (which is way to easy and has to be stopped), I just couldn't see us losing it.

The team selection was bold and spot on in my opinion, so full marks to AA for that.

Webster looked shot of confidence from about 5 minutes in. He doesn't look comfortable there, and looks to have no conviction in his passing ability. So much so, that there was one incidence where the ball rolled towards him, and rather than take responsibility and do the easier thing of controlling it and moving it on, he played a 3 yard pass behind him, without looking, and gave it away.

He took two or three bollickings from Dunne for his distribution, and coupled with the general bambi on ice, and lack of positioning,
