    RIP James Alexander Gordon

I dunno if many of you know or realise the impact Mr Gordon had on radio and in particular the footy scores. For 40 years he read the Saturday scores of all the football and Scottish leagues. He had to quit last August after his larynx was removed because of throat cancer. He died on Monday aged 78.

He was an institution to many in Africa, Asia and the Americas, especially back in the day, when BBC WS radio was the only way you could get the scores of your favourite teams. He had various ways of practising getting thes right and delivering it such a way to differentiate between a win or a draw. His favourite unused line - Forfar Athletic 4 East Fife 5 !

When announcing his death on the World Service, they played back part of some of his deliveries and guess which result was the one announced?
    Nottingham Forest 1 Barnsley 0

He contracted polio as kid and overcame a speech impediment. RIP JAG! - [url=http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2167689-james-alexander-gordon-bbc-voice-of-f

Lolz. Morning to you from sunny Perth. Holidays shouldn't be boring southie. A great chance to get sloshed and watch the birds!

But heck looking at all these 'schoolies' having fun, makes me feel very old.
