    Ward - An Absolute bargain!!

Not so long ago there were some who were slating ward and felt he contributed little to the team at the time I posted that at £250K he was an value for money.

Yesterday he played at his best and on a value for money basis made McCormack at £12 million seem a very expensive gamble!!

yes lets forget all those rubbish performances because he's had one good game!

fair play to him for playing well though. in his early days with us he played a blinder pretty much every week. more of the same please.

The thing is with Wardy, he'll always come good at some point, even if it isn't as consistently as we'd like.

Like you rapid, he frustrates me, but I'm so glad we've retained his services. He's a player ANY championship team would have in their squad.

I take you back to Watford last season. Ward was out of form, but scored two, one a header he had no right scoring, and the other a bit of a wondergoal. Only Ward would have scored those goals. Add his defensive work-rate and tenacity, I'd always have him in my 18.

Jamie is virtually unplayable when he's on form - this burst of goals will do his confidence a power of good as well. If he stays fit he will be a fantastic opt

For what we paid for him then yes he's a bargain. But if you were to look at position for position in our best eleven, providing he's in it, he'd be one of the first ones I'd look to replace. For 250k he's a great squad player but he isn't good enough for where we are looking to be, and where we were one game away from being. Three goals in two games doesn't suddenly make him player of the season.

Well there aren't that many players in the team who haven't had a number of rubbish performances over time Hughes, Bryson, Keogh, even martin have all had barren spells - if Ward could maintain that level of performance consistently, then he would be a £8 million plus player and we wouldn't have him!

I'd agree that there are better quality forward players out there, but hey we paid over £1.2 million for sammon and he hardly set the world alight did he?

The point I was making that over a season, Ward will more than repay his fee and wages - sure if we had paid over £1 million for him then might be justified in slating the lad (although compared to some forward players I'd say not).

If i was to go back in time to sign ward and had to pay his worth for us, i reckon itd be pushing 2 mill. Yes he may become less and less important to us but he has been a very good player for us, at times our only inspiration. Why he took our corners for so long i'll never know though, that has tested my patience.

I like the fact that he seems to love giving his all for 60 minutes, knowing he's going to come off - and our medical team seem to have his hamstrings managed most of the time now.

    I also like that he's a little ****.

Never been a huge fan of Ward. Too inconsistent and too injury prone.

But I can't deny that when he's fit and in form, he's bloody good to watch. If he was like that more of the time he'd be worth a fortune.
