    What I learned last night

    On the positive side :-

    1. Burke looks pretty comfortable as a CB and I can see him getting better
    2. Poyet is class. Looks a proper defensive midfielder and can pass the ball. Basically ran the game most of the night.
    3. Sakho looked lively in the first half and had something about him. Faded later but probably has not got match fitness yet
    4. Demel is a tank.
    5. Zarate looks a snip and has real quality
    6. We had a 15 year old on the bench.
    7. Downing - Played well when he came on and seems to be getting some form early on this season.

    On the Negative side

    1. Team were overconfident and in the second half, paid the price.

    2. Morrison. A lot has been said about him but last night he turned into a sort of Ray Wilkins and all his passes were going sideways. Yes, a lot will somehow find a way to blame Allardyce for this but you did not see Poyet doing this and he was FAR more effective. I am starting to understand why Harry Jettisoned him from the team in the playoffs and has not exac

Agree with all that, Valencia looks like he needs a good meal down his neck, I've dropped bigger logs in the pan.

Morrison has, let us say, had a turbulent last few months. Aside for his off the field issues (spent a couple of nights in nick and has a potential jail term in the off'ing), if the papers are to believed the manager doesn't want him, but our owners do. Didn't really follow the squads in pre-season games, but did he play much?

Hardly ideal season preparation, especially for someone who is still a young, obviously troubled lad. I was surprised to see his on the squad list. I guess BFS works with him every day so can only assume he was ready (if I was a conspiracy theorist, I would suggest BFS set him up for a fall playing him in a game he didnt really want to win, to say to the owners "thats whay I don't want him". I'm not so wont suggest that), but with the above issues, can he really be ready to play a game, even against minnows?
