Apologies for being a bit thick but have I got this right?
We are bottom of the league, zero points and -9 GD. And we signed NOBODY on transfer deadline day.
Is that right?

It beggers belief in one sense.
However the loan window opens again before our next league game, so on the basis that it's a week wages saved on any new signing, probably more likely towards the end of next week.

When Pogba was sold at the end of July, Steve Davis was quoted as saying on the BBC Football web site "It does free up some money, we've made a decent profit on him and we will need it to strengthen. We'll have a board meeting on Thursday to see what we can do with the money because we need to bring in a better player than the one we,ve lost" What has happened since - two loan signings Greg Leigh (Man City) and Jamie Ness (Stoke) and that is all as far as I am aware. Time is fast running out to make good on that aspiration.
There was a fans forum on Thurs 11 August with Steve Davis when an opportunity was there to ask such questions about the cost of running the Academy and the budget for players and whether we cannot compete with some of the other clubs mentioned in recent threads. Were these matters touched on and what was his answer?

Fidler, we signed Marcus haber literally days after Pogba left, so I assume that's where that money was allocated?
However, I agree with Progg's point. If now isn't the time to make a signing, when is? Lets hope that Steve has some loan deals lined up for when the window re-opens. 9th Septmber I think... Is there really any point it closing for a week?!

I'm past caring because if we have to have a board meeting to free up some cash then it shows how this club is really governed and its not for the fans and why they insulted us by the ticket price against Bolton. No doubt they had a board meeting about that as well. I doubt Bolton were even consulted. Why was Bury so low?
As for loan signings? A lame excuse and we don't want loan signings thank you! Spend some of the Powell money for God's sake!

Well according to the Sky News web site at the time it is described as a free transfer for Marcus Haber from Stevenage. So no money spent since 31 July as envisaged by the Manager in my earler quote despite the Board Meeting on Thurs 31 July.
