    The Real Pistorius Thread

Chis got it wrong on the other thread saying Oscar had been found guilty of manslaughter.

He was actually found guilty of Culpable Homicide and also guilty of negligently discharging a firearm in a public place. i.e. in a restaurant.

and as I mentioned in Marts thread may get up to 15 years or could get off with either a fine or suspended sentence!??

    From the BBC

"Although he has been convicted of a lesser offence, it still carries a prison term of up to 15 years but, unlike murder, the judge may use her discretion and suspend the sentence or only impose a fine." - view external link

I'm no legal expert but isn't it known as manslaughter in British legal terminology.
But culpable Homicide if they are using scots law.

Thanks Fairy - I did indeed put Manslaughter because that's what it basically is and was trying to be helpful.

So, just to clarify, there is no actual difference between culpable homicide and manslaughter?
