    Awfords mini crisis.

I said it last week and it was apparent again today. Andy doesn't know his best side and he doesn't know the way/shape we should be playing.
He is completely over-thinking his team selection. Some of our players need to take a long hard look at themselves aswell imho.
If this is not turned around this week, it could be a very long season full of attrition ...again

Too slow, too afraid to man mark and tackle, too inept at covering in defence; too slow at turning defence into attack, too poor at finding space to move into, too poor at passing or indeed reading a pass; too fragile and fearsome in the opposing third to take on defenders, too timid at shooting, too poor at finding someone in a better position to score, too poor in shot or heading execution. Too unco-ordinated in working together as a team.

    Need I go on?

You don't go away to teams like Sarfend to try for a 0 - 0 or 1 - 1 scoreline when you are chasing promotion, Andy! What's got into you? Or the players for that matter?

Totally agree. Play the 11 and tactics wot played against N'Hampton (accept we do miss Atangana). Having said that, I think we'll be ok on Tues and next Sat. May drop a point from 6 but I think the next week will push us back up.

IMo the lack of a 20goal a season striker will see us stuck in this league for a while yet.
We were said to be interested in Reid when he was out of contract in the summer. We did nothing & it will come back to haunt us.
Taylor for all his effort has an abysmal scoring record. Storey is a rookie which leaves us with Agyemang whose bordering on past it & the only one who looks really sharp-Westcarr.
Has to be remembered also that we're still paying off the creditors so we have little or no financial clout to bring in a top quality lower league striker.
Lastly you have to ask what the hell has happened to Hollands & Holmes, Awfs must be wondering it as well because last season under him they both performed superbly. Now though you'd be hard pushed to think they'd get in any other L2 team. The pair of them need to realize the season has started. Nicky Shorey for me is an enigma as well, his best play is often in the oppositions half, yet he's a defender & when a player fronts him up he's

And as for Westcarr Gun, Awford needs to work out how to utilise him properly. He's not tall or strong enough to play as a lone striker and he isn't quick or tricky enough to play out wide.

He needs a strike partner and some decent service wouldn't go amiss either.

Pompey have easily 1 of the largest squads in the division, maybe too big, too many to pick from and keep them all happy. Also I think he should stop changing the system to counter the opposition. The really top teams usually stick to their own system and leave the opposition to worry about them. I reckon he should choose what he considers is his best team and stick to it.
