    Cardiff Match Thread

Looking ahead to tomorrow's game, how do people think it will go? What team will we play? Attendance? I think I've covered all the generic pre-match topics there haven't I?

All the talk on the board has revolved around Solskjaer's sacking, but I reckon we shouldn't be too worried. If we put in a decent performance, we should get the result.

As for the team, the biggest question for me is Whitbread or Buxton?. Zak's done nothing wrong to be honest, but I can see Jake coming back in with Zak getting the nod on tuesday. Harsh on him, but that's what I reckon will happen. Eustace will probably keep his place too.

Christie to play over Shotton, and Dawkins and Ward to continue on the flanks:

    Grant

    Christie
    Keogh
    Buxton
    Forsyth

    Eustace

    Bryson
    Hughes

    Ward
    Dawkins

    Martin

    SUBS:

Roos, Whitbread, Naylor, Macarell, Ibe, Russell, Best.

Calero to miss out along with Thomas.

    I'll go for a 3-1 win, 27,200 attendance.

I will be disappointed if Buxton gets the nod ahead of Whitbread.

He let us down at Forest, and he should be reminded of that before coming back in. Plus, Whitbread played well against Blackburn imo, so should keep the shirt.

2 - 0 Derby. About time a clean sheet came along. Ours are filthy.

I'm a big fan of Jake. His long-balls are a feature of our play. As you say, though, Whitbread has done nothing wrong, and I'd be impressed with Mac if he kept his shirt. I'd lovey, a clean sheet, and think one is a possibility, but I don't dare punt for a 3-0.

Think we'll win 2-0, keep our unbeaten home record going and make PP (or the Sports Drink Arena) a real fortress, which will be ***** to our chances this season.

If I was the Manager, sorry, Head Coach, this would be my team:

Grant; Christie, Keogh, Whit, Forsyth; Eustace, Hughes, Bryson; Ward, Ibe; Martin.

I think Whitbread deserves to stay in, like already said, Bucko was sent off and competition in squads is important, so it's important to give out the message that you have to be on the top of your game, every game to stay in the team. Ibe over Dawkins because he looks really direct, has real pace and a real attacking threat. We need to take the game to Cardiff immediately and knock any new found confidence of a "new start" out of them early on. Martin and Bryson to bag the goals.

What I think Mac will choose:

Grant; Christie, Keogh, Bucko, Forsyth; Eustace, Bryson, Hughes; Ward, Dawkins; Martin.

very very harsh and I have to disagree. I don't thnk jake's in the business of ever 'letting us down'. he's a warrior and give 100% every game. my take on it was that with burke reacting like the whistle hadn't been blown and was about to fly down our wing, for a split second he wasn't sure if a free kick had been given or not.

either way I don't think he was reckless. a possible misunderstanding. incidentally, there was nothing wrong with the challenge if a free kick hadn't been given in the first place, unfortunately for jake it was.

I thought the whistle had long gone, and it was like a strange natural reaction or something to tackle Burke. Either way, he tackled someone after the whistle had gone, and gave away a stupid free-kick in a stupid place

I like Buxton as much as everyon

So would you put Jake back in rapid? I agree with yoyr point on the sending off, and he certainly didn't let us down.

From a performance/tactical decision, I'd argue Whitbread stays in as he hasn't lost his shirt. That said, I like Jake and I rate his

If Buxton plays he has to ease off on the shirt pulling in the penalty area. It's only a matter of time before he gives up a penalty if he continues.

If Buxton is fully fit, I'd (just) rather see him to Whitbread.
Agree Whitbread hasn't done a lot wrong but as others have said, Bucko's distribution and in particular, his 30-40 yard passes can help keep on the pressure.
It's also not long since (most would say) Bucko should be the first CB on the teamsheet, never mind coming back in after a non injury related absence. I've put Jake's indifferent start down to not being fully fit - as already said, if not FULLY fit, Whitbread should start.

Whitbread should start because we just beat Blackburn away from home and he did nothing wrong. Wasn't his fault for either of the goals, he nearly stopped the second after having to come and cover for Eustace's missed header and Keogh giving Gestede too much space.

Buxton was fantastic last season and is a very good CB but he's not a world beater and it's not like our team would be severely weakened by Whitbread playing in his place. Why cha
