Everton Boss Pours Scorn On Stars' Reported £50m Switch To Chelsea Or Man City.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has denied the rumours linking Ross Barkley with a switch to Chelsea or Manchester City in the near future, as reported by The Guardian.

Reports in recent days had suggested that both clubs were lining up moves for the midfielder next summer, and that they were on the cusp of making an enquiry for him.

In fact, City were supposed to be significantly advanced, having enquired to Everton how much it would cost to sign the young England international.

The Manchester club were said to view Barkley as the ideal replacement for Yaya Toure, who has been criticised for his recent form.

They were, however, somewhat put off by Everton’s valuation, with the Goodison Park club supposedly asking for a huge £50 million for the player.

Martinez has, however, denied that any conversations have taken place over Barkley’s transfer.
