    Taylor at the double...

Ryan Taylor marked his return from injury with two goals for Pompey reserves.

The striker netted twice in the opening 18 minutes during this afternoon’s 3-1 win at Cheltenham.

Conor Chaplin grabbed the other as Alan McLoughlin’s side picked up a win in the opening group game of the Final Third Development League Cup.

Zack Kotwica had levelled for the hosts in the first-half, but the Blues surged on for the victory.

Encouraging as he is not a prolific goalscorer.
What do we know about Conor Chaplin?

One of our youngsters Kitey, after scoring goals for them on a Saturday has been promoted into the stiffs. He was a 2nd half sub when Scully and I viewed them last week

Good news. He didn't look right in the last two he played before the injury.

Not prolific, but a real pain in the arse to mark with his strength and work rate.

Considering the fact that the present 1st team strikers? are missing so many chances I think Taylor should be starting games as soon as he is fit. Several people have compared him to Kitson, but though they look alike I dont think theres any other similarities between them. Kitson was lazy, and never appeared to give a toss for the team, Taylor may be only a lower league striker, but he is not lazy and keeps giving his best all through a match.
