    How would Mac assess the last 12 months?

    Question put to SMcC by Gibbo on Ramsplayer post-Bournemouth.

    Mac's reply (with huge smile) and obligatory styrofoam cup in hand:

    "...we're very lucky. We came to a very well-run Club with very good players and very good staff and they deserve all the credit for what they've done...".

    Not saying the statement isn't true, for the large part it is or that he didin't mean it, but what else would you expect him to say, McClaren is well aware that he took over from a manager (mainly due his IMO) who was well regarded by many fans and has been very diplomatic on that score ever since.

    Yes, it was kind of all in place, but obviously the previous incumbent wasn't up to the job. No harm in that.

    People need to realise Nigel wasn't the scout either. Nor did McClaren scout Christe. In fact, i'm pretty sure McClaren said he'd never seen him play.

    Chris Evans does our scouting. Just like Nigel's brother did his.
