Alex makes mincemeat of tory council leader over poll tax arrears. Jim Gifford absolutely clueless and doesn't know what hit him. - view external link

This is the First Minister of Scotland right?

And he felt the need to phone up some poxy wee local radio station in Inverteuchter, did he? Just to argue the toss with some wee tin pot council leader? Must have been a quiet day in the affairs of state in the capital.

And BTW, if it's illegal for councils to chase debts over 20 years old, why is there a need for legislation? Is he going to outlaw people saying things about chasing up old council debt, which AFAIK, isn't illegal.

    Yet!

Salmond made mincemeat out of democracy when he loaded the gun in favour of independence...

And failed! Under 18s shouldn't have had a vote and Scots living in the rest of the UK should have had a say.

He made mincemeat of democracy when he broke parliamentary procedures to make the announcement.

I'd take away the vote from the over 60s before I took it away from 16 year olds. All the young people I spoke to were engaged with the process. Every old person I know seems to have made up their mind for crap reasons: "I've always voted Labour", "I fought in world war2", "I want to keep watching Eastenders" and nonsense like that.

Of course, all adults who are old enough to pay taxes should be allowed to vote.
