Was having a little Google about and stumbled across this photo...

From there I found this website, link below. It's before my time in general but may be of interest to some on here to have look through... - view external link

    !967 - that was a good year.

    1-Alan Bown!, 2-Jimi Hendrix Experience, 3-Amboy Dukes, 4-Simon Dupree & Big Sound, 5-Amen Corner, 6-Move, 7-Nice, 8-Geno W, 9-Gass, 10-Arthur Brown/John Mayall

    Saw all of these.

This was the best local band from that era SoDo. Look at all our lovely hair.

Saxophone player I have jammed with currently on tour with Gino Washington and his Ram Jam Band.

Saw some of those listed but later than 69 Are any of the others still active?

Two ex members of The Move are currently touring with Jasper Carrott, along with (I think) a Moody Blue.

Saw Geno Washington and the ram jam band at Uni dance in Bristol c1966. Simon Dupree and the big sound were very popular with the students and came back a couple of times also Manfred et al.

Always nice to see a picture of the Savoy, or Neros or whatever you youngsters want to call it. Saw the Stan Kenton Orchestra there. Friday nights with the likes of Ted Heath, Johnny Dankworth, The Kirchin Band, etc. were THE big event of the week.

    Anyone remember Gentle Giant?

Unless you were at the Fisherman's Cottage or in Parkhurst nick in 1970 you wouldn't. Those were our only 2 gigs.

Good Lord yerse. They were originally Simon Dupree and the Big Sound I believe. The very same nearly caused the Seagull Ballroom at the end of Ryde Pier to drop into the sea one memorable night.
