Looks like the Valley from the size of that terrace when they were forced to leave and share with Palace.

I reckon it's the Valley too. I went to school with a slightly mad Charlton fan and I remember him going up there when it was derelict and taking a load of photos that looked just like that.

I think that is Rossendale United's Dark Lane stadium after a make over.

It is the Valley. I used to live not far from there and remember it looking derelict like that.
It's looking a bit better now it's been spruced up...

Drove up there with my eldest son Boxing Day 1995. Paul Hall scored our goal in a 2.1 defeat. Team was Knight, Russell, Stimmo, Macca, Whitbread, Butters, Walshie, Martin Allen, Johnny Lager, Paul Hall and Jimmy Carter. Deon Burton and Fitzroy came on as subs for Hall and Carter. Set off early and I can't remember anything about the game apart from getting lost in the last few miles which meant an unwanted trip and back through the Blackwall Tunnel

The side terrace used to hold 45000 standing and was the biggest terrace in English league football. (Courtesy of Simon Inglis's excellent
'Football grounds of England and Wales').

My old man told me it was the only ground in England that they didn't know it's full capacity; not sure if that's correct or not(?)

Didn't Pompey play Charlton in the first match back at the reclaimed Valley ?

I remember it slightly differently, that it was the only ground in the League that had never been filled to capacity.

My recollection was that it was 80,000, but Wiki now says 75,000 so that must be right Anyway, it as the biggest in the League at that time.
