Just been released from prison 2 years after alleged rape of a girl on a night out. I'm not defending him but there were 3 involved in total, all three drunk, yet Evans was the only one sent down. Clapton McDonald got off free, and has been a pro footballer since the event while Evans has been in prison. I'm not going to say he was innocent as obviously I don't know the full details but it seems a bit odd that's all.
Would anyone take him given what's happened? I personally wouldn't because guilty or not it would tarnish our, but I do think he would be the closest we could get to Martin. Decent pace for his size, can hold the ball up and scores his fair share of goals. I doubt he'd be too unhappy about sitting on the bench on a relatively low wage either. Would anyone here actually take him?

You dont have to say "alledged", he was found guilty by a court of law. He may well of always pleaded his innocence, but scumbags like him dont deserve to be afforded the priveldge to be professional footballers
I take my kids to PPS, and would hate to think they could ever idolise a player who did such a dispicable act. As far as I am concerned he is guilty, and rightly or wrongly, in my mind he was an arrogant person who possibly thought in his mind the rules we all follow dont apply to him as he was a high and mighty footballer
Total ****ing scumbag. If he came to me for a job and I saw convicted rapist on his CV, I wouldnt go near him with yours.
I take my hat off to the Blades fans petitioning for him to be kept away from their club. I am equally surprised that Nigel is even contemplating this happening
Let me ask you...being a professional footballer and earning £5k per week - isnt that a priveledge? For doing something like he did, dont you think he should have this op
It's a tough one, 'he's done his time', as they say but it is a heinous crime he was found guilty of.
I think the press and society should find more appropriate role models, like charity volunteers, doctors and nurses for example.
Footballers are just that, footballers, they play sport for money, an enviable lifestyle but not really inspiring, or shouldn't be.
I think, everyone, deserves a second chance.
Woolwhacker - would you be so accepting if it had been your daughter he attacked. Would you see him on tv knowing he plays football for a living and collecting huge pay cheques, and still think he was worthy of a second chance?
For me, I would go buy a drone and drop a spear thro his head, not a flag, if it was me
Angry - I need your coucelling!!!!![]()
That is why we have courts and judges as often the family of the victim would not give a fair punishment.Originally Posted by su4eranio

I think there's a lot of self ritious people giving it the big un without reading into the case.
what he did was have *** with a drunk girl. she couldn't remember it and it was therefore deemed she was in no fit state to consent. he then got jailed for it.
hands up who's had a 1 nighter with a drunk girl? or should the appropriate question be who hasn't? so is it luck of the draw on whether she gives you a peck on the cheek the next morning or calls you a rapist?
personally I think we need different categories of rape in the judicial system. this is not the same as beating some poor girl up, raping her whilst conscious and leaving her for dead in the gutter, yet they're still known as the same thing - a rapist.
would I have him here? toughie. it would bring so much bad PR that it couldn't be feasible really. I don't have any objections to him resuming his career at a club that will take him though. the reha
He's served his sentence , if a taxi driver raped someone , upon his release should he not be able to drive a car again ?
If there is a club willing to take him on then so be it .

A footballer is in a position of influence and a roll model.
150 000 petition signers don't want back at Sheff Utd and I wouldn't want him at our club.
A football club also has it's image and reputation on the line.
Best move for him if he wants to play football, is ****** off abroad.
