    Back to the dark days

of the old Pompey again. matches come and go with a low point at full time ,struggling to create anything like a goal and giving away easy goals at the back. The excuse today was that our centre back three had not played together before ,Crap what do they do all the week in training then, we have loaned two fowards from higher divisions and they are both rubbish awould struggle to get in leigh parks side .Unless there is a radical change in our approach ,I look to the rest of the season in despair

Where has it all gone wrong? Tuesday is now a huge game for AA, we are loosing yes but more importantly we are creating virtually nothing, and statistics just get worse and worse game after game.

just 1 shot on target today speaks volumes, this problem is not just down to poor strikers, there seems to be no belief spirit motivation whatever you wanna call it in the team at the moment.

Got a feeling next two games may be make or break for AA, sad to say after his achievements at the back end and start of the season, i hope i'm wrong and he turns it round. PUP

I like AA, but this season all he talks about is 1-5-4-1 1-4-4-2, 1-4-4-1-1 etc, I think probably the players are so confused they dont know what system they are supposed to be playing most of the time. Sod the opppositions tactics I think Pompey should be good enough to decide what system is best for THEIR players and stick to it.

    Indeed FB

AA seems reluctant to accept that using 3 5 2 has failed.

Like many managers he persists hoping it will eventually work so he can say he was right.

    It won't

No goals away in the league since August.

One in total the last 5

    4 points from 5 matches.

Not even a goal a game now in the league

    Stats P 13 W 4 D 5 L4 GF 11 GA 12 PTS 17

Smacks of mediocrity just like last season.

Why he has suddenly lapsed into a conservative play it safe defend what we have from the KO is beyond anyone but him

I like AA want him to succeed but wish he would go back to the game plan he had at the tail end of last season

Go for broke Take the game by the scruff of the neck from the start use 4 4 2 and attack the opposition down the wings with crosses that go over the top of the defence.

Stop trying to play neat football with pretty triangles that go nowhere or down blind alleys or end up back with our keeper.

I also wish ourp player could keep possesion when they do get the

I'm not sure the strikers are useless, more that the rest of the team is not set up to create chances. Even when we beat Dagenham this was the issue left at the back of my mind. We won that day because of a wonder strike just before half time, a dubious penalty and them getting one sent off. Nothing that has happened since has changed my view.

Awford needs to play a more attacking game. If our defence is suffering injuries then play to where we have strengths and try and get goals. Trying the same thing with different personnel will just lead to the Bury debacle, which was hardly a surprise.

I'm not so bothered about the result tomorrow night, what I'd like to see is that Awford recognises the previous system isn't working and tries something more positive. If he cannot do that then his position comes under further scrutiny.
