I agree Danm but it never used to be. Bolton seemed to start going downhill at the end of the nineties. It is down an eyesore, as other towns in the area have improved beyond recognition Bolton continues to decline. Bolton council are forever announcing huge multi million pound developments such as the Central Street/Victoria Hall redevelopment, Church Wharf, and the hotel at the now barren wasteland where the demolished for no good reason Odeon used to be.The only problem is they NEVER happen. They always blame the recession for the delays but it didn't stop Manchester and other surrounding towns attracting untold investment.

They spent a fortune sending their delegates to Cannes to attract private investment, what did this achieve... nothing. No surprise for our council to waste money, the same council who bought the Armana Princess statue, yes the fake produced by a no mark in Tonge Moor.

It is too convenient to blame their failures on cuts, the town was well in decline before th

I think building the Trafford centre has taken a lot of business away from Bolton and other towns in Greater Manchester. The only place that is thriving is Manchester it seems.

Eye , the place IMO has always been a crap hole ….the bit around trinity street is ****ing awful despite recent investment

Bradshawgate is iffy , I never really liked drinking up Bolton either ( lower nags head when I was 16 ) the swan was ok at one point , the night clubs seemed like ever ****er wanted to chin ya , manchester is a million times better for a drink IMO

    re: Bolton town

I used to drink regularly on a Friday and Saturday night around Bradshawgate and Churchgate

Starting at Man and Sythe, then Swan, Yates's , finally Balmoral.

The area was always a bit "tasty" with a few nutters but mainly decent people. Now it's full of nutters and only a few decents.

Stopped going about three years ago.

Further down Bradshawgate is a total disgrace- it must make Beirut attractive.
