Backs up the claims that we have loans lined up in certain positions (GK and CF) if we get injuries.

Didn't believe it when I read it. But all over the Footy news sites.

Really thought Roos would be good enough to stand in at Blackpool, and good experience for him.

    Is Grant's injury a long-term thing?

Reportedly a fractured ankle. Did well to play on.

Disappointed that Roos won't get a chance but surely this is the best option?

Think about it. Roos is back-up to Grant, therefore not as good as Grant in the coaching staff's eyes. Grant gets injured so we're already downgraded in an important position. Then we have a keeper of even lower ability, be that Morch, Mitchell or a loanee on the bench. What would happen if Roos gets injured? We would then have a third choice keeper starting and could potentially sabotage a promotion spot.

I'm more in favour of a good quality, England U21 keeper playing on loan rather than a back-up U21 Dutch keeper who is good but not as good.

How long is Grant out for by the way? Not seen any news on his injury? According to twitter the Butland deal will be a 28 day loan deal. I can't see why people won't be happy with this? Our first team keeper gets injured and at a moments notice we can bring in the England U21 goalkeeper who has already had a full international cap and will probably go to the next 2 or 3 world cups with England.

Gone are the days where we scramble to bring in keepers like Matt Duke & Brad Jones, yet another sign of progress under McClaren.

Another McClaren signing that cant make it into the team?

Whats happened to the scouting system that brought us all these players currently in the team?

Who was Matt Duke? Dont remember that

Butland appears to be a decent loan to cover Grants injury. Just to make a minor point tho, I actually think Grant is the better of these two keepers at this time. Keepers dont really get great until late 20s so in Butland, can expect to have a keeper who is still raw

Be interesting to hear how long Granty is gonna be sidelined for
