Performance wise, we have played above what I expected but results wise we haven't had the rub of the green.

Only West Brom have battered us and Chelsea for a 20 minute period.

We will come good at some point but I can't see us getting the 10 wins required to stay up.

We should of been out of sight against West Ham on Saturday by 15 mins. As it were we let them off the hook and they punished us moving on upto 4th in the league.

Unfortunately (like it is for us) games last longer than 15 / 20 mins.
In addition teams like Chelski, Citeh etc. with the resources and players at their disposal only need to play at 80% for those 15 / 20 mins and the game is gone.
Its the clinical finishing more than anything that undoes you. Whereas we (certainly at our place at the moment) need countless numbers of opportunities, pretty plentiful down here in the second tier , not so plentiful in the rarefied atmos of the Prem. against such

10 wins? You wouldnt get that in two seasons. But you won't get 2 seasons. Its nearly Nov and its actually embarrasing. At least have a go. The signings by the club have mirrored the on field achievments. Miles off what is required. Whats enjoable about getting beaten every week...for those grimly holding onto the notion of 'we are going to enjoy the season anyway'.

The worst we can do is to come back down to the championship in a healthy financial position and have another go next season. I can't see us stopping up and don't like getting beat all the time but I'm still proud of what the club have achieved on a shoe string budget.

    True.

But I'm not sure about the shoestring budget.
What happened to the millions you got in the Prem last time and in parachute payments?
You haven't spent it on players or the ground?

We were in a very bad financial position last time and all the people who had bailed us out snapped the premier league money up. We installed a very good pitch and invested in a few young players who subsequently balanced our books when sold off.

We have no one to just toss 50m a season away for midtable championship football so have to make do.
