League for me. I too would love a cup run but whilst this team is pretty much fully fit I want to see how far they can push themselves.

Given the choice, would we prefer to beat Stoke in the league or the cup?
Obviously a win in both would be preferable, but if you had to choose one, what's more important?
It would be the league for me, another three more points towards safety. A cup run would be nice though![]()

Got to be league and 3 points closer to safety..
It's a great question because so often this board has seen posts criticising when we go tamely out of cup competitions - but asked to choose directly ... Hmmm.
Well I'll go for a cup win and one foot further towards a possible final (and maybe Europe if it went the right way?) and a draw in the league.
I'd go for a win in the league, 3 points closer to securing a top six finishand a draw in the cup, then progress via the penalty shoot out

Well, that should have been more comfortable, than it was.
Pelle hits the post and bar, then misses the headed equivalent of a tap in, to prevent a hat trick.
Morgan hits the bar.
Tadic, second half, turns 3 defenders in one go, then hits a "Lallana"!!! For the uninitiated, that is a horrible, scuffed shot, wide of the target, when the goal was gaping.
Could easily have been 4 or 5. Have to say that was the "gentlest" Stoke team I have ever seen.
As mentioned many times in commentary the atmosphere was terrific and the support magnificent. Take a bow Saints fans.![]()
Very satisfying result as we had to grind it out, if Pelle had taken one of the headed chances he had in the second half the we could have won by more but we won so it didn't matter.
19 points on the board 21 to go
Also saw nothing to suggest we can't beat them again on Wednesday if we take the game seriously and put a strong team out
