    Pre-empting the pitchforking..

Not far from the truth, IMO..

[quote=Premier League Owl]As every Southampton fan is aware, their team was officially relegated from the Premier League in July.

When Nicola Cortese left the club, a lot of journalistic noses were put out of joint. Cortese enjoyed and continues to enjoy cosy relationships with prominent sports media figures, and that bred a lot of the falling sky coverage that followed his departure.

As with a lot of that sort of football coverage, the slant was determined by the personal loyalties of certain writers rather than the logical impact of a non-playing member of staff’s departure from a club. Cortese certainly had visionary traits and was evidently a force for good at Southampton, but the over-dramatisation of his resignation was quite staggering.

    And it went on…

The Summer brought with it an exodus of talent and the doom-saying subsequently intensified. There were those who expressed casual-yet-genuine concerns for the club, and then there were other

Much that I admire the Don for
    1) Bringing Marcus and the club together.
    2) Being the driving force that got us to the Premier with a competitive team.
But realistic enough to realise things change, and we have started a new leg of our journey. As I already stated in other posts, I could not agree more with the above post that since Cortese left much of the negativity has been generated by an ex employee, who also could have had a hand in certain other moves away from the club. Odd that certain people where represented by the same (allegedly unscrupulous) agency.
I must admit to being a tad nervous after Poch left, but once RK was installed my faith was restored. I have never believed we would be in a relegation battle, but our start has surprised me, and I am realistic we are unlikely to still be riding this high after Christmas, but I am going to enjoy the ride, and I will always question any negative reporting.
