    LDB/Chis

    As your both racing nuts.

Did either of you watch C$ race from Wincanton won a novice chaser The Young Master ridden by Barry Geraghty

I fancied it and had a few on at 8/1. As you probably know it won easily going away.

if you were watching you will have heard C4 saying about 30 mins later that it is suspected the horse was not in fact qualified as it had only competed in 2 qualifying Novice chases prior to today

Wonder what the enquiry that was being carried out will decide. Cock up at Wetherby's?

Don't recall a similar incident but maybe one of you two do.

I collected my ill gotten gains asap before the bookies decided to withhold but I suspect at worst the Horse will lose the race and prize money.

This is a right mess. I cant remember it happening before. Talk about egg on faces, there will be a massive enquiry and I expect that the winner will be disqualified eventually. Winnings, Jockey and Trainer percentages etc are paid out well after the race in question so there will be no problem on that score. Good for you getting your winnings though. I didn't see the race in question, looking forward to seeing Creepy run which hopefully be at Cheltenham

THE BHA are set to look into the circumstances surrounding the running of The Young Master in the Badger Ales Trophy after it was found that the first horse to pass the post was not qualified for the race.

The Young Master was sent off a 13-2 chance for the race but after he came home seven lengths in front of Court By Surprise it emerged that he should not have been allowed to run.

Race conditions for the Badger Ales Trophy state that as a novice The Young Master needed to have had three runs over fences to take part. He had only

    Shambles indeed

fair play to Emma Lavelle as well

BTW Am going to Taunton on Thursday prior to the Plymouth game (long weekend) it will be number 50 for me in terms of race courses ticked have got trips to Aintree & Carlisle penciled in for 2015.

ATM one of the Elite runners Lumpys Gold is entered at Taunton (trained by P Nicholls)but i doubt it will run and even if it does given its tame performance last time out shan't be Lumping on it

Remember you saying that you were going to Taunton. PN's horses are in great form at this time as are the Hobbs and Tom George yards. Have a great afternoon down there with before "hopefully" a 1st round cup win tomorrow

I do indeed recall a similar incident. Must've been in the late 80's when a decent 2 year old called Prince of Dance (out of that fabulous filly Sun Princess), trained by Dick Hern and ridden by Carson won what I think is now called the Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury. It was later realised that he was not eligible to enter the race as it was restricted to horses whose sires had won at 12 furlongs or greater...and his hadn't. He was disqualified. He then won the Dewhurst (in a dead heat) but I don't think ever ran again.

If they stick to this precedent then they'll have to throw The Young Master out.

Talked to my Cousin yesterday who works at 2 tracks. We can't believe that the Mulholland yard didn't twig that the horse had to run in 3 novice chases before running in such a valuable handicap. That is bog standard as I call it. The yard have had that horse its total career, it has run on the flat, novice hurdles etc. The race is worth £34k to the winning connections but both the trainer and jockey get their winning percentage out of that. Weatherbys also have egg on their face but no blame to the Stewards. It is not their responsibility to sit down and check that all horses entered are qualified to run. It is a shame in hindsight that whoever let the cat out of the bag as soon as the race was run, didn't do it before the off.

Have a great day tomorrow Bc. 71 entered for 7 races not too shoddy. Gordon Elliott is sending one over from Ireland, Goal. It must have a great chance, shame our strikers don't know where the goal is.

I'll keep that in mind LDB

BTW - ATM the Elite have 2 runners in the 2.10 Lumpys Gold trained by Paul Nicholls and Yabadabadoo trained by Emma Lavelle

Very rare for the Club to have 2 in the same race and provided both run I would be inclined to back Yabba as he is known to prefer tacky ground.

As i said I'm not convinced Lumpy is as good as the Trainer keeps saying he is.

Erm, no it ain't. They've both been scrubbed.

Looks like Yabba goes to Uttoxeter on Sat instead.
