Whilst 25% of our players are black or from ethnic minorities, there are only 2 managers and 17 coaches reportedly in the 4 divisions. Chris Powell No 1 at Huddersfield and Terry Connor No 2 at Ipswich (god bless him for that goal at the Dell) are two I can readily think of. If they are good enough they ought to be given a chance...
Coloured?
Probably a polite way of saying non-white as everyone is scared of saying BLACK.Originally Posted by Pentridge
In this instance it's not black managers and coaches that is being highlighted but Asians as well. Can't see an obvious answer as it's not really possible to insist on any positive discrimination when employing staff.
However I personally believe that were an amazingly successful black or asian manager to emerge clubs would be lining up to sign him/her. Probably him.![]()
Black is more socially acceptable than coloured tbf.

Would be quite nice to have a blue manager...bit like those things from the Argos adverts
There's been a debate about this issue for two weeks on 'The Sunday Supplement'. The consensus was that board rooms need to change (with black representation) and that from some black contenders should be interviewed for the managers posts as a point of law. Often it's jobs for the (white) boys.
One valid concern was the view that less enlightened European countries may have of black people. So players from those lands might not even play for black managers.
The only high profile black manager I can remember is Paul Ince. There were BIG personality problems between him and some of his players if memory serves. He did black coaches no favours by his attitude.

No and no.
Paul Ince likes to play the race card, but no matter how much he does it still doesn't hide the fact he is an utter gsrbage manager and coach.
I'd like to know what % of coloured managers actually apply for jobs. Its far too easy to play the race card & I remain far from convinced that those that do apply are not considered because of their colour.
Seems to me that fans have moved on immeasurably since the 70's, not sure you can say the same for some ex coloured players & managers.
