    How depressing

Since the Saville matter, every day new reports of past child abuse come to light.
How can all this have been hidden for so long.
How can adults treat children in this way.
How can we rid society of this evil?
It makes me so sad to think of my "normal"childhood compared to the unfortunate ones.
How can we ever repair the damage done.

I echo your sentiments entirely. I served with the RAF on an exchange posting in Berlin in the mid 80s. Only this week an ex RAF SNCO (who I knew) has been sent down for 13 years for ***ually assaulting young boys who were in his "care" as a Scout master. He deserves every day he is inside for me

Two things that come to my mind anyway. Firstly just how bad were the Police in following up a lot of these cases. Secondly it looks a bit like the establishment have well & truly covered their tracks, which rather brings us to the old saying "Money Talks".
Evil, wicked, you it for the perpetrators. How do you describe those that knowingly covered it up though.
There's a another big one brewing about the Elm Guest Home, also a suggestion doing the rounds that the recent change of Welsh Secretary by Cameron was something to do with the fact he failed dismally to investigate something very dodgy & couldn't face the upcoming election with him in place as & when the news breaks.

I new a Captain in the RMP in Germany and once when we were chatting he told me that it was feared that at least 30% of the children in BAOR were being interfered with. Mainly within the family !

It never came to light but I do think they had a policy of just posting d'difficult' people away…………..

These crimes are only coming to light now because of modern media. This is nothing new imho. These things have been going on since the year dot.Unfortunately they will continue aswell imho. This is not just a massive problem in this country, its rife in many other countries.

It was very common in the 70's, any sort of organisation was a breeding ground for it. Many where able to hide behind the organisations fraternity, and society was in a state of flux were children were still to be seen not heard. People who believed what was going on were afraid to bring it to the attention of the authorities as they would be blacklisted as a whistle blower, and there own futures affected.
Modern technoloby is a major factor plus the moral stance of society has changed, less blind eye turning in general though Government (public organisations) has some catching up to do.

A recent prog on Broadmoor highlighted the fact that nearly all of the inmates suffered terrible abuse as children. The damage to them and consequently society has been incalculable. Very sad indeed.
