    Dave whelan

He's always had summit to say about everything, this must be the first time he'd wished he'd kept it shut. It's a shame really coz he broke his leg in a cup final ya know.

I think that Whelan was trying to diffuse what Mackay had said in the past by trying to make a joke out of it but its backfired on him!

The bloke's gone in the head.

Heard Darren Gough trying to defend him on Talksport saying he's 77, from a different generation, blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, I accept that but you just can't say things like he did these days even if you disagree with the PC brigade

Can see things going from bad to worse for Wiggin

The media are loving this. They are all coming across as angels who have never said anything untoward in their precious lives.

The two companies who have "ditched" Wigan in my opinion are just after some good kudos from the do gooders.

How many football fans have been offended by what Mackay or Whelan have said ?. Not many I would suggest.

Whelan big mistake was letting himself get "stitched up" by the left wing Guardian, with their leading questions. It was a little embarrassing listening to Whelan digging himself deeper into a hole.

Once he had decided to employ Mackay, he should have just explained his reasons, which he did, then told everyone that he made the decisions as owner of the club, and that it was the end of the matter. Full stop.

He has trod on a lot of toe's during his career, and upset many of his employees. Quite a few of them are enjoying his squirming at the moment.

He is an hard noses businessman who will take no **** or advice from anyone. He should tak

Whelan grew up in an era when what he said was a nothing comment.

I'm not saying that makes it OK, but anybody that was born before political correctness is more vulnerable to saying something stupid like this.

In terms of Mackay, if you had access to everybody in football's texts, you'd probably find a good chunk of them were no less racist. Obviously that doesn't make it acceptable, but he's been very unlucky.

I like DW but there are times you need to be silent and keep the opinions as a chairman and owner to just footballing issues !

It pisses me off how the newspapers love this kind of thing, they are trying to destroy some daft old **** for saying something that 99 per cent of them have" said in the past, imagine if the Beatles original Get back" song was brought back up, but they haven't got the guts to take on McCartney. I am not in the least offended by Whelan or Malky but would be nice to see Wigan go back to where they belong , as the Beatles would say
