As long as they're lucky enough to get home draws who knows how far they can progress, and meanwhile teams higher up the leagues are knocking one another out.
3rd favourite isn't that far off at this stage given the draws imho

Celtic or Dundee, and Partick or ICT will be gone next time out and if The Rangers get another home draw they could win that too

They have absolutely zero chance of winning anything worth having.
The only thing they are going to get this year is yet more shame and embarrassment.

Why are the club with the second highest wage bill (by around six times compared to the third highest) rated only third favourites?

Have they drawn Celtic away from home?

So long as Celtic and United are left in the cup I'd say Rangers have no chance of winning it. If they were eliminated then Rangers would be strong favourites to win it IMO - Inverness are probably a better team than them on their day but Yogi already proved that he'll sh!t the bed if up against them.

Favourable draw (shock) for the Sevconians but Celtic, United, Inverness/St Mirren, St Johnstone & Partick are all better teams. They're also yet to beat any of this lot on their own patches. Hibs also gubbed them at their own midden and have the easiest draw of the round.

But eh, 3rd favourites right enough

I think Celtic and United would be the two strong favourites at this stage. Celtic by dint of their league position and United with lesser league position but with a home draw.

Agree with most of this except where you say Rangers woukd be strong favourites. Maybe we should be, but given the standard of performance usually served up by the players, I wouldn't back Rangers strongly to beat anyone from the Prem.
