what is the minimum finish for bowyer to get another year?

For me it's the play offs promotion or not I have seen enough this year to know that this team is better than last season maybe not player wise but mentally stronger which was one of the key reasons we lost and drew so many when we shouldn't of have last season.

If we don't get promoted, I doubt that we would be able to afford a different manager. Strangely enough I suspect GB's position would be more precarious if we do get promoted.

To a large extent, this division is a lottery. Teams go on runs and then flop, or go up and down like yo-yos.
In a way, we have sneaked a path into the top six. There have been very few matches where we have played well for 90 minutes. We have grabbed a few points we didn't deserve and let a few go that were there for us on a plate, but we keep grinding upwards, even if progress has been slow.
If we reach the play-offs, GB should stay for sure. The transfer market will then become the key issue. Will we keep Marshall, Rhodes and Gestede? If so, will the owners provide the money for another central midfielder of proven class - something we probably still need?
If we do get promotion (unlikely, I think), GB would clearly deserve a chance and we would have better prospects of keeping the three players mentioned, but we would probably come straight down and that might see the axe fall.

It's all about progress saxo a finish in the play offs is progress on last season
The finish last season was progress on our piss poor finish the season before.
If your team does better each season you cannot ask anything more than that.

JR - I wasn't intending to sound completely negative. I just meant that I'm not yet convinced we have the quality-edge or the ruthlessness needed to take us to automatic promotion, and the play-offs are cup ties!
As for "why are we all bothering?" - well, we've discussed that very question a few times recently. I DO want to get back to the PL, because that is the ultimate goal for every club - in both a financial and footballing sense - but, like a lot of others, I feel it is actually more interesting to be playing at a level where it is not all about survival.

anything less than promotion for rovers would be a disaster for the club financially. why some are talking as if we have all the time in the world to get back up is just totally beyond me. talk about burying your head in the sand!

edit- that reply applies to aucks as well..

JR - I think we're at cross purposes here. It's not a matter of "time...to get back up". We won't get promotion just because we NEED to. Everyone is aware of the financial situation, so I doubt that anyone is performing ostrich imitations! The fact is, it's bloody difficult to get out of this division, and we have no divine right because of history.

I agree fully aucks just because we are financially in a mess and need to go up necessarily means that is what is going to happen
This league is massively competitive and as you rightfully said it is so difficult to get out of.
I was not burying my head in the sand saxo with my point of happy with a play off position but you have to be realistic would you sack bowyer if we lost in the play off final or stick and hope for a response derby county style?and if we got rid who would you bring in?Rome my friend wasn't built in a day.
