SPFL to withhold Rangers' broadcast fee to cover EBT fine

The Scottish Professional Football League is withholding £250,000 of broadcast money due to Rangers in a bid to recoup a fine imposed for the club's use of a controversial tax scheme.
Lord Nimmo Smith imposed the fine in February 2013 after finding Rangers broke league rules in their use of an employee benefit trust scheme.
Rangers say they will appeal against the SPFL decision "vigorously".
They argue that the company in breach of the rules has since been liquidated.
Lord Nimmo Smith's commission studied the use of EBTs by Rangers Football Club plc, now in the process of being liquidated by BDO, between 2000 and 2011.
It found that the company's management did not take professional advice on disclosing the payments.
The findings also stated that the current owners should not be held responsible for any breaches made by the previous company.

So the new Club/Company are happy enough to take any cash owed to the old Club/Company, but unwilling to pay any fines for the old Club/Company!!

Always knew the Club/Company thing would come back to bite them on the **** and finish them off completely.

How long till we get another Red Card to Liquidation day?

sevco doing the waltz again, blaming the company that liquidated, funny how they used a different argument when pursuing the telfer money, citing the same club bullsh1t.

clubs cant actually change companys running them to escape punishment, its the club who is punished not the company.

can any daft bun give me one example where a club has changed its ownership to escape a punishment from an fa. if it were so easy dont you think clubs would do this on a regular basis, that they dont proves sevco,s are as thick as pysh.

    * I think it might provide a bit of clarity in describing such situations if LNS, the SPFL, etc would use the terms Rangers, The Ranger/Sevco.

That way at least folk might have a better idea of who was under discussion and make it less likely for the old Sevco Shuffle to be indulged in.

re: Oh no the newest team in Britain in trouble again!!

    History: "we're the same team"

Fines: "we're not the same team/company"

Telfer Cash from Dundee Utd: "we're the same team/company"

Liquidators seek Telfer Cash from Dundee Utd: "we're not the same team/company"

I think the blazers have got sick of them taking the **** over this we are / are not the same team business.
