    Player Ratings versus Leeds

    Grant 6/10
Spent the entire 90 leaning on the post, smoking a big fat Cuban cigar and looking at the night sky. Saw 3 shooting stars but no shooting Leeds players.

    Christie 7/10
Robust & quick. Got backwards and forwards with relative ease. Never looked in any trouble and combined well with JR. Prevented any Leeds attack of note down his side though helped by the ineptitude of the visitors.

    Keogh 7/10
Commanding. Vintage Keogh, complete with surging runs. Brought a quite superb save from Silvestri mid-1st half with a swooping header from a corner that the keeper worked wonders to tip away.

    Buxton 7/10
We look so much more compact and balanced with Jake alongside the skipper. Never in trouble, some lovely silky skills too including a great dummy and a trade mark header from Hendrick’s freekick to make it 2-0 just after HT. Can’t see Shotton shifting the bucanneer from left CH.

    Forsyth 7/10
Saw lots of the ball tonight; distribution better

Cheers Toddo. Yes I thought Christie was excellent and worth an 8. He sets a very high standard every game.

Excellent write-up Ella including the word concomitant - impressive!

Actually didn't think we were at our best but a very professional performance with no dramas

    Onto the mighty Southport

Agreed good report and result. Pleased we got the own goal as I thought we had run out of ideas after the first 15 mins. Good team performance but again trying to walk the ball in when near goal instead of shooting. Luckily the defence played but if Leeds had scored late on it would have resulted in a nervy last few mins in a game we should really have been out of sight with.

I thought Eust was MotM last night. Broke up any attempt of play by them, organised our team, and even kept stealing ball and driving into their box

Plenty of steady performances against a **** poor dirty leeds who again resorted to industrial fouling!

Bucko gave solidity and assurance to defence. Chrissy held ball up nicely. Will controlled the play. Ibe ran their right side raged and always a threat

only surprise was we only scored two!

Thank you Stamford. We didn't really need to get into top gear. I too came away a little disappointed that we didn't totally fillet them with a 5-0-er; however very professional job it was. Leeds were nullified.

Thanks Ramspride. I agree. I was half-expecting the ref to give Leeds a penalty and send Buxton off for wearing a beard a quarter of a millimetre longer than FIFA regulations permit - or something - to give us squeaky bottom syndrome for the final 10 minutes but thankfully it didn't happen. We should have had a third to totally kill them off.
